Introducing The Carrot Project

E4C introduces a way to eat local and contribute local. This fall we’re partnering with Meadow Creek Farms to offer a veggie pack of organically grown root vegetables. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase is donated to E4C’s Snack Program. 500lbs of carrots are also being provided to schools in the Snack Program.

Each school day the Snack Program provides a nutritious mid-morning snack to students in 23 Edmonton schools. The program supports over 5,600 students and serves over 1 million snacks, ensuring the healthy functioning of active young minds and bodies. For neighbourhoods facing food security issues in Edmonton, this program is essential in satisfying the morning hunger of students and ensuring they are able to learn and focus.

The veggie packs are $75 and include an assortment of organically grown root vegetables (russet potatoes, carrots, onions, purple garlic, beets and spaghetti squash). The veggies grown are in nutrient rich Alberta soil at Meadow Creek Farms 45 minutes outside of Edmonton. Meadow Creek Farms is a family farm serving the Edmonton area for over 60 years

The veggies will be available in early October to pick up. There are several ways to get involved:

  1. Pre-order a veggie package
  2. Encourage fellow employees to purchase veggie packs by promoting in a company newsletter or internal communications
