Call for Compact Digital Cameras
As part of a new workshop series called Forward Together, E4C is coordinating a number of creative writing workshops and photovoice projects for community members that will culminate in publishing the 2nd edition of the McCauley Writers Atlas as well as an exhibit of works by community members at The Drawing Room, a small gallery on 97th Street in the Boyle Street area of downtown Edmonton.
E4C is currently seeking donations in the form of small “point-and-click” digital cameras for program participants who may not have their own cameras to use.
Participants will be documenting their lives and neighbourhoods as a means to strengthen their voice on issues of poverty, family and community. In conjunction with activities like walking tours of their neighbourhood, free workshops with professional artists and showcase events like local coffeehouses, participants will be given the opportunity to learn about creative expression while increasing social bonds and reducing isolation.
“Photovoice is a method commonly used in the field of community development, public health and education, which combines photography with grassroots social action.”
