Nasir & Asma’s Story

E4C Make Tax Time Pay (MTTP) is a program that pops up during tax season at 22 sites across Edmonton. It’s available for people who have low incomes. Taxes are done and assistance is provided in applying for government benefit programs. 240 volunteers make this program possible, but what really keeps the momentum going are the shared experiences of people who have benefitted from the program.

Here are a few words from Nasir & Asma describing their experience:

“I would like to take this opportunity of saying thanks to two volunteers of your organization named, Norma  & Nancy, for helping me and my wife in filling out the income tax return forms and giving us the right guidance for submitting our tax returns at Mill woods United Church earlier today. I became very happy to see the professional dedication of these two ladies, who made it possible for people like us, who just migrated to Canada few months ago and the people who are low income and can not afford to pay for such services.

Special thanks to Nancy, who took my papers and showed her interest in even posting them to the Tax office. I just want to say that these kind of things and some other help from Government of Canada in past, made us think that we have made a right decision to make Canada our permanent home, slowly and gradually we have actually started loving Canada.”

Sincerely,

Nasir & Asma
